Danger of Going Into Self-Deception

So we're all gathered in Council Hall, we just got done worshiping the Lord and we're ready for the sermon. One of the staff members gets up (he's one of the younger ones) and has us turn to James 1.21-25. He started out by saying that it was the anniversary of Steve Irwin's death (the crocodile hunter) I loved him, so anyway this WOLBI staff member talks about how Steve Irwin was always up for danger, and he (the Wolbi staff member, sorry I can't remember his name) would rather stay out of harms way and sit on his Lazy Boy, eating his chips watching Steve Irwin do all this dangerous stuff. Well, the title of his sermon was ...
Danger of Going into Self-Deception. James 1.21-25 (so know you see the connection?)
1. Being in an environment where the Word of God is at work, and not dealing with your own sin.
Also see
Romans 13.12- The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. so remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living.
Hebrews 12.1 - Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
1 Peter 2.1 - So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech.
2. Having the truth of the Word at my fingers and not recieve it at a personal level.
3. Hearing and recieving the Word and not stepping into action.
4. Being worse off by hearing the Word and not responding to it, and leave worse off then I was at first.
5. Not realizing response to the Word of God is the determining factor for the direction of my life.

So James 1.25 really jumped out at me during this sermon:
"But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it."

I found this to be a very POWERFUL message for me, and I wanted to share it with you all, if there is anyone reading this. :)
